On November 14-15, 2019, you can learn why pedestrian and bicycle travel accommodations should be included in the transportation network, gain an understanding of key safety principles for these modes, and learn about design treatments, safety countermeasures, and the latest national guidance and best-practices.
Pedestrians and bicyclists are vulnerable users and transportation networks should serve the range of ages and abilities. Participants will learn the significance of land-use, street connectivity, and site design for making a safer pedestrian environment. Discussion will include design features for a safer and more comfortable bike riding experience; safety countermeasures for pedestrians and bicyclists at intersections; and other conflict points. Participants will be provided with information on various tools that are available to analyze and evaluate safety.
