ATRC and UC Berkeley – Institute of Transportation Study

Seeking Bicycle & Pedestrian Count

The University of California Berkeley, Institute of Transportation Studies is working with Caltrans on a study on how to design an active transportation census network for California.

The research team is seeking automated bicycle and pedestrian counter data to help them calibrate big data to leverage for the network design. Any data you can share is crucial for the success of this study, which lays the groundwork for a future with greatly improved nonmotorized volume data availability throughout the State.

UC Berkeley is requesting the following:
• Access to raw and/or quality controlled data from the permanent or long-term bicycle or pedestrian counters
• Location and technology information for each counter

Data submittals due by Monday, February 28th, 2022.

Please send your questions and data to Julia Griswold at juliagris@berkeley.edu
