Applications Due July 10, 2023 – $1.2 Billion Federal Funding Available
Looking to develop a well-defined strategy to prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries in a locality, Tribe, or region, Caltrans encourages you to apply for the Safe Streets and Routes for All (SS4A) program. The program focuses on the development of a comprehensive safety action plan and its implementation for all users of our highways, streets, and roadways, including pedestrians, bicyclists, public transportation users, motorists, personal conveyance and micromobility users, and commercial vehicle operators. The program provides funding to develop tools to strengthen a community’s approach to roadway safety and save lives and prevent serious harm. There is also an additional $200,000 of funding available for this round.
The following groups of applicants are eligible for the SS4A grant program:
* A political subdivision of a State or territory (i.e., cities, towns, counties, special districts, certain transit agencies, and similar units of local government)
* A federally recognized Tribal government
* Metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs)
* A multijurisdictional group of entities from the ones described above (select one lead applicant from group)
All the information about this program can be found on the SS4A webpage. Access the FY 2023 NOFO pdf here, the IIJA Bi-weekly Newsletter and CAS IIJA Discretionary Grant pdfs are below.
