Meet the new Director of the National Highway Institute
The Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) National Highway Institute (NHI), is pleased to announce its new Director, Mrs. Stacey J. Caston!
She is a familiar face to many of you as she has been an NHI Training Program Manager (TPM) for nearly the past seven years.
Stacey began working at the US Department of Labor where she monitored, trained, and developed policy guidance for grantees. Then she became the Team Lead for a training team at the Federal Aviation Administration, developing and delivering training for Air Traffic Safety Inspectors. Afterwards, she became an NHI TPM where she worked with FHWA subject matter experts, program officers, and instructors on a variety of program areas and projects.
When asked about the highlights of being an NHI TPM, Stacey stated, “One thing I really enjoyed about being a TPM was the opportunity to work closely with people across the agency who were passionate about their programs. When developing training, team member passion is a spark to interesting conversations, increased engagement, and ultimately high-quality courses.”
As the first African-American NHI Director, Stacey will navigate critical training initiatives that impact FHWA’s ability to provide education and training programs to the national surface transportation workforce.
With her sparkling personality and famous greeting, “Good Morning Good People!”, we officially introduce Mrs. Stacey J. Caston as the newly appointed NHI Director and look forward to her taking NHI to the next-level in transportation training.
