UC Berkeley TechTransfer now offers five online, self-paced courses!
Online, self-paced courses are ready to start whenever you are. You complete the course as your schedule permits. If you have content-related questions along the way, you can post a question to the instructor and receive a response by email. All five of these new courses also count toward a new certificate programs.
Concrete Pavement Construction Inspection (CCI-02)
CCI-02 provides a more detailed understanding of successful inspection of concrete pavements. This will include preconstruction checks, including safety and traffic considerations, and material checks, including on site and plant-based concrete materials inspection considerations. This is a core course offered by the City and County Pavement Improvement Center CCPIC in partnership with TechTransfer.
Concrete Street Improvements Construction Inspection (CCI-03)
Course CCI-03 will provide a more detailed understanding of the construction inspection and associated material testing of concrete flatwork associated with street and road construction. The instructor will discuss the production of cement and concrete, the basics of the concrete flatwork construction: the equipment, tools, and best practices to produce and the final product as designed.
Pavement Preservation Construction Inspection (CCI-04)
Pavement Preservation Construction Inspection will cover material testing and construction inspection of fog seals, slurry seals, microsurfacing, and chip seals. The instructor will discuss the production of emulsions, the basics of the composition and application of each treatment, equipment used for application and its operation, agency quality assurance, contractor quality control, inspection, material testing, and associated daily documentation. Illustrations and numerous photos are shown and discussed as well as example calculations.
Construction Inspection of Asphalt-Rubber Pavement Materials (CCI-06)
CCI-06 will cover asphalt-rubber pavement materials and construction inspection for spray-applied and plant-mixed rubberized asphalt in accordance with 2021 Greenbook and 2022 Caltrans Standard Specifications.
Financing and Cash Flow for Pavement Networks (CCB-21)
Sources and uses of funding, local government finance, SB1 transportation funding, Highway Users Tax Account (HUTA), Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Account (RMRA), and cash flow analysis with case studies and strategies for communicating funding needs.
