DLA Training Programs

Caltrans Division of Local Assistance (DLA) offers training classes for local and tribal agencies in coordination with the Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) and with funds from the Cooperative Training Assistance Program (CTAP). In partnership with California universities, these classes assist local and tribal agencies with the federal-aid process, as well as infrastructure management, work site and worker safety, and workforce development.

The Tribal Technical Assistance Program (TTAP) is funded under FHWA’s Training and Education programs.

CITT provides specialized trainings serving California transportation agencies through the LTAP Center. CITT undertakes a wide array of applied research in the areas of transportation and supply chain, and regularly assess the regional transportation labor market.

Tech Transfer – UC Berkeley Institute of Transportation Studies

UC Berkeley Tech Transfer provides Caltrans subsidized trainings for local agencies in engineering, multimodal, pavement, planning, and work zone and worker safety.

Tribal Technical Assistance Program

The TTAP Center provides comprehensive transportation training and technical assistance to tribal communities, building skills and expertise to ensure the safety and maintenance of tribal roads. Program delivery will be managed through the Local Aid Support team TTAP Program.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) finalized an agreement for a project that provides local transportation practitioners access to the AASHTO TC3 (Transportation Curriculum Coordination Council) library. TC3 is AASHTO’s library contains 190 training modules, and courses are divided into the following categories: Materials; Construction; Maintenance; Traffic and Safety; Pavement Preservation; and Employee Development.
